the owner is a PM
ConcordeBoy (Jan 27, 2003 10:09:28 PM)

businesstraveler (Jan 27, 2003 10:10:08 PM)
Does the mobile sign company have a web site?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:10:23 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:11:25 PM)
I'll be back in a sec with the info
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:11:29 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:11:38 PM)
that was before the pissed PM discount
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:11:41 PM)
could we get design costs down?
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:11:45 PM)
eyefly--are you talking about the driving billboard
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:11:50 PM)
I image we could

will the cops let it in
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:08 PM)
we may do better with radio commercials on an all news station. airtime isn't as costly.
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:17 PM)
I'm flying AirTran to the billboard unveiling.
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:19 PM)
Just tell me when.
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:26 PM)
we need more than 2 days in public
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:28 PM)
good one seiple
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:29 PM)
And tell me where to send my money.
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:38 PM)
Because I want to staple my Silver Medallion card to it.
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:48 PM)
i would think that if we pay for this, the news would pick it up
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:53 PM)
bruce are you still having trouble?
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:12:54 PM)
we could set up an account where people paypal their pledges
I LOVE EWR (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:03 PM)
does anyone have contacts with the news outlets in ATL?
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:05 PM)
You're gonna lose a bunch in Paypal fees too though
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:09 PM)
Especially on large transactions.
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:10 PM)
press releases in advance would help
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:15 PM)
2-3% not a big deal
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:17 PM)
Yes, indeed! Had to reboot. No understanding of this!!!
paradocs (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:17 PM)
Let me get this straight, EyeFlyDoc: that's after the discount?
avek00 (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:23 PM)
I must admit that i am impressed by the dedication of DLers to the cause.
obscure2k (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:25 PM)
I don't trust driving billboards, as I am not interested in LaP Dances.
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:33 PM)
anyone here in marketing or pr
ak (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:44 PM)
how about an ad in the WSJ
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:50 PM)
anyone
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:52 PM)
what is the purpose of the mobile AD?????
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:56 PM)
WSJ may be really expensive
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:58 PM)
"From the Passengers of Delta Air Lines"
Engines turn (Jan 27, 2003 10:13:59 PM)
I think Seiple's on to something... remember the woman who wore a dress of Amex platinum cards to the Oscars?
melvin (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:01 PM)
i gather this billbaord will be the sole purpose to highlight the recent sm changes?
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:02 PM)
Radio ads are pretty cheap in medium-sized markets.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:18 PM)
OK
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:20 PM)
Staple your card to the billboard and say "bite me Delta"
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:21 PM)
here is the info
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:24 PM)
http://www.gbtruck.com/
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:24 PM)

obscure2k (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:25 PM)
Mea-culpa--former PR person--
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:32 PM)
It has to be targetted at Business or FFs
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:32 PM)
And just placing a radio ad would generate press coverage.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:32 PM)
is the site for the mobile bbs
businesstraveler (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:34 PM)
Presumes radio station will run them...
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:36 PM)
Will Wes Sarginson be there?
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:38 PM)
He's cool
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:46 PM)
and we have about $2400
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:48 PM)
Why not?
Seiple (Jan 27, 2003 10:14:55 PM)
What about Monica Kaufman?
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:15:28 PM)
kimmer would have a blast with this
FrequencyFlyer (Jan 27, 2003 10:15:38 PM)
Monica costs more than $2400
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:15:54 PM)
who are these folks ?
FrequencyFlyer (Jan 27, 2003 10:16:03 PM)
Kimmer would be fun, but he would paint us as elitists
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:16:12 PM)
Correctly!!!
FrequencyFlyer (Jan 27, 2003 10:16:14 PM)
Kimmer = local radio personality
FrequencyFlyer (Jan 27, 2003 10:16:24 PM)
Monica = local TV personality
I LOVE EWR (Jan 27, 2003 10:16:25 PM)
BTW did anyone see this today http://www.usatoday.com/travel/news/2003/2003-01-28-delta.htm
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:16:32 PM)
could we compare days of exposure bb or radio
ConcordeBoy (Jan 27, 2003 10:16:56 PM)
i saw it EWR
ConcordeBoy (Jan 27, 2003 10:17:04 PM)
a basic review... but oversimplified for us
I LOVE EWR (Jan 27, 2003 10:17:07 PM)

I LOVE EWR (Jan 27, 2003 10:17:11 PM)

bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:17:34 PM)
Interesting article. I had not seen it.
Engines turn (Jan 27, 2003 10:17:40 PM)
In NY drive time radio runs $500-1000 per minute, so I think ATL would run $300-600
LegalTender (Jan 27, 2003 10:17:53 PM)
bruce, what article?
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:17:58 PM)
Clark Howard wasn't interested last time
hfly (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:09 PM)
I made it
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:10 PM)
the only one I found was about 'song'
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:11 PM)
Just placing a few ads would generate press coverage, I guarantee.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:12 PM)
I guess the first question is what are we aiming at
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:26 PM)
hi hfly
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:27 PM)
what is the purpose
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:32 PM)
Bruce - radio ads?
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:37 PM)
Yes.
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:48 PM)
make a statement + generate media interest
bajamex (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:54 PM)
Why not sell miles to raise funds they will come after us and we get publicity
hfly (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:55 PM)
Do you guys want my "not posting on the board" take????
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:18:58 PM)
I imagine we would have to make the press aware that we were doing it
I LOVE EWR (Jan 27, 2003 10:19:02 PM)
why not go national? Usatoday? give the number of theVP in charge of Skymiles
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:19:02 PM)
how about AJC ad? quarter page in biz section -- anybody know what it costs?

hi Art, long time

hfly (Jan 27, 2003 10:19:49 PM)
One is leaving DL next month due to the cutbacks.....
peteropny (Jan 27, 2003 10:20:03 PM)
hello
Art234 (Jan 27, 2003 10:20:12 PM)
Does ANYONE at DL feel they might have made a mistake?
Dick Ginkowski (Jan 27, 2003 10:20:13 PM)
Sounds like they are on a self-destruct mode
hfly (Jan 27, 2003 10:20:22 PM)
The other two basically asked why it bothered me as I seem to be the type that benefits from these changes, but......
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:20:22 PM)
angry as hell & not going to take it anymore. Sound familar? :)
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:20:23 PM)
Apparently, voluntary departures are looking good to quite a few Deltans.
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:20:37 PM)
Something ending with "Call Patrice Miles at XXX-XXX-XXXX to let her know that you do not support there changes "

I keep thinking of Bill Holden and Robert Shaw....

When I explained that the PM cuts were a bit much they agreed
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:20:49 PM)
can we get chris from the ticket to help?
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:04 PM)
I say give leo or Vicki's number
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:06 PM)
hfly, same here. The PM cuts are being reconsidered.
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:16 PM)

guys, don't forget about the GM's & FO's
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:33 PM)
art..all front line people are saying they hear rumors of mistake
Dick Ginkowski (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:37 PM)
It will be interesting to see if the CO/DL/NW defiance will be challenged by DOT or smaller aielines
hfly (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:39 PM)
You can also see from other areas that GM and PM are being pared away from FO
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:40 PM)
The WSJ advt would get the most publicity...
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:43 PM)
what is the purpose of giving those #s
sowalsky (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:46 PM)
i'd hope it was a mistake they'll acknowledge
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:50 PM)
Definitely. The more people we bring in, the more support we get.
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:55 PM)
If we can afford it, that may be a good idea
businesstraveler (Jan 27, 2003 10:21:58 PM)

Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:22:27 PM)

sowalsky (Jan 27, 2003 10:22:29 PM)
the airlines always win ff vs. airline
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:22:34 PM)

Retrench? They believe the industry will follow if they hold out.
Art234 (Jan 27, 2003 10:22:43 PM)

mikey, agreed
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:23:03 PM)

sowalsky (Jan 27, 2003 10:23:43 PM)

bnaboy (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:00 PM)
Thanks to all who are actually doing leg work in addition to contributing. I am in for at least $100. Good night all.
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:07 PM)
We at 9pm good for me
paradocs (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:09 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:12 PM)
Weds works for me
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:13 PM)

mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:21 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:28 PM)
the billboard company I mentioned may be willing to do it for very little
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:32 PM)
Hey all.. looks like I missed everything.. didn't I?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:34 PM)
I'll see what he says
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:38 PM)
nope
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:42 PM)
Eye Fly that would be terrific
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:42 PM)
Jeff
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:45 PM)
that would be great efd
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:53 PM)
not as much as it seems
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:48:54 PM)
I nened to hear what he says about taxes. It's my job.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:03 PM)
I'll call tomorrow and see what he says
cwpfly (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:14 PM)
Doc, Great!
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:15 PM)
my office manager sent him to the Delta site to see what happened
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:19 PM)
he had no idea
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:19 PM)
btw...what is dl stock selling for....we need to all buy a share and go to meeting
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:25 PM)
if he's willing to do it for cost
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:29 PM)
it may be the way to go
Engines turn (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:33 PM)
I can ask about a PR person in atl
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:39 PM)
$9.86 today
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:39 PM)
for those interested I posted the site way back
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:44 PM)
Hell i'll drive the truck for nothing
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:47 PM)
Eyefly, if the mobile billboard guy is a PM, he might do it at cost or pro bono
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:53 PM)
About 10 bucks
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:57 PM)
i can afford 100.00 for a share
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:49:57 PM)
I had that feeling
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:03 PM)
10.00
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:06 PM)
my office manager said he was really pissed
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:10 PM)
you know the feeling
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:27 PM)
Mobile billboard is good ONLY if a local TV station picks up the story. Otherwise, it's a waste of time, in my opinion. Audience is too small.
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:28 PM)
18.80 today
DLrunner (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:37 PM)
who filed the lawsuit? I just read about it
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:40 PM)
I agree
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:47 PM)
drive bb to tv office
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:55 PM)
It's nice to see everyone on here... and it looks like people are starting to leave now, but what happened? Did you decide on the bb or not?
cwpfly (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:55 PM)
If we do the billboard,we need DL flyers to go down to ATL in a large group.
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:56 PM)
some ambulance chaser
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:58 PM)
gannet that's a nice idea
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:50:58 PM)
May have to be more subtle than that!
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:06 PM)
maybe not
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:10 PM)
it might work
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:15 PM)
rssrvp...are you willing to do a synopsys for ft....send copies to the ticket and we can all contact our news contacts
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:20 PM)
park in front of the local TV station
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:33 PM)
if it hits them in the face they cant ignore it
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:38 PM)
that's true
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:41 PM)
It's too obvious and will backfire.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:43 PM)
like DL hit us
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:57 PM)
They have to WANT to cover the story.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:59 PM)
then again, Bruce is usually a voice of reason
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:51:59 PM)
I can post on the board tomorrow. How do you get in touch with the Ticket? That is your baby.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:52:04 PM)
true
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:52:16 PM)
bd not sure subtlety will get us noticed
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:52:33 PM)
i hope i saved his email adress..if not ill find it
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:52:40 PM)
A simple call to the media when the board was circling would get them out
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:52:44 PM)
That's why I like the approach of using cheap radio ads to build up support.
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:52:45 PM)
I agree
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:03 PM)
the radio ad or the mbillboard would both work
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:05 PM)
Flash, a mobile billboard gets a flat tire in front of DL terminal in ATL.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:08 PM)
whichever is cheaper
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:22 PM)
I like the circling idea
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:28 PM)
I can see the promo
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:30 PM)
Cheap radio ads is another way, too.I was on a flight from AMS-CDG this weekend and a fellow PMer didn't even know about the changes!
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:31 PM)
not to subtle
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:33 PM)
on ATL TV
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:36 PM)
here comes cops to ticket billboard
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:54 PM)
it wasn't a plane circling ATL this afternoon...
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:55 PM)
will airport police allow circling?
obscure2k (Jan 27, 2003 10:53:58 PM)
--Call Dr. Laura and complain how this is impacating our relationships--call Larry Elder about this being a Libertarian issue--call Sean Hannity and explain how the FF's are being screwed-over (of course, politely). Call Limbaugh, say "mega-dittos" and bitch about how this is all about liberal-media bias. Call, call and call some more. I do believe thatTALKRadio is the free route--
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:09 PM)
People at ATL either work for Delta or are in a hurry. Not the best approach, in my opinion.
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:10 PM)
convoy following truck with horns blazing
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:18 PM)
The billboard owner said yes
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:22 PM)
said he's done it before
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:23 PM)
summons for noise
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:32 PM)
I like the Rush call. LOL. Saying "Mega Dittos" is key.
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:35 PM)
:)
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:40 PM)
not likely with an anti-DL message
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:45 PM)
i liked that the usa today article talked about us complaining
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:55 PM)
Me, too.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:56 PM)
we'll we are complaining
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:54:57 PM)
Eyefly, it seems to me that you really have to work on the mobile guy
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:07 PM)
good lord obscure, do you listen to all those awful people?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:11 PM)
I can be pretty persuasive
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:14 PM)
Did I miss something while I was in France? Did USA Today cover us?
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:31 PM)
so let's table this until Wed. at 9 PM
Engines turn (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:34 PM)
no they covered a truly petty story - good news for us
mikey1003 (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:38 PM)
phone call for work...have to go...later im in
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:41 PM)
that sounds like a plan
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:45 PM)
they covered the airline industry
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:55:50 PM)
Wecat nine good I'll have radio numbers
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:04 PM)
sounds good gan
cwpfly (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:09 PM)
Please take notes for Wednesday. I can come.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:23 PM)
I am hoping that he'll do the rolling board for very little
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:27 PM)
Again, I stress that you need an all news station,!
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:30 PM)
If I owned it I would
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:38 PM)
Good gannet #s is what are needed...
Engines turn (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:42 PM)
thanks doc, bruce, good night
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:45 PM)
if he won't then radio makes the most sense
gannet (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:50 PM)
Bye folks, talk again wed
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:50 PM)
take care
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:56:54 PM)
sounds good
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:02 PM)
Here's a question
obscure2k (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:03 PM)
I listen to those awful people because my best friends manage them!
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:10 PM)
Why can't we get on WINS 1010 in NYC. That's the #! listened to station in America (or so they say every 2 minutes)
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:14 PM)
Eyefly, mobile billboard is 1st choice, and radion is 2nd.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:16 PM)
anyone think that the news is here now?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:18 PM)
or DL?
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:23 PM)
is the ssm website doing the web stuff, or do we need a new one?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:25 PM)
Agree
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:34 PM)
I think SSM can be adapted
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:35 PM)
easily
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:39 PM)
WINS broadcasts in NYC
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:39 PM)
we only need one page
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:46 PM)
I know.
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:47 PM)
who runs it he asked ignorantly?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:56 PM)
WINS?
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 10:57:59 PM)
Randy?
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:58:04 PM)
There was already an update on the SSM site regarding the changes
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:58:09 PM)
Oh SSM ;-)
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:58:23 PM)
it would be easy to summarize the issues
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:58:35 PM)
if I had the time I could do it on a free site
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:58:40 PM)
they are summarized already at SSM
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 10:58:50 PM)
but it is a bit too busy - no?
GG (Jan 27, 2003 10:59:00 PM)
not very coherently
GG (Jan 27, 2003 10:59:11 PM)
IS that Randy?
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 10:59:21 PM)
GG, Lex what is your take on this?
GG (Jan 27, 2003 10:59:42 PM)
not as good as I'd hoped, but I have notes... ;)
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:17 PM)
Bruce, welcome back, we have collected $4500, and are mailing it to you.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:19 PM)
they know who you are ;-)
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:20 PM)
Get numbers, make decisions soon... I like print still, but if billboard guy gives you a great deal, sounds okay
obscure2k (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:20 PM)
My feeling--flood the talk radio stations--it's a free venue. Be prepared to come with a political agenda relevant to FF mles.
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:29 PM)
So what is the Wednesday 9p.m. chat going to accompolished.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:41 PM)
the problem is that it takes time to call
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:43 PM)
and listen
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:51 PM)
and time costs more than money for most of us
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:51 PM)
define the options
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:52 PM)
obscure 2k is correct. We're both in LA, so we can touch base with KNX and KFWB.
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:55 PM)
Talk radio in Atlanta would probably work. Everybody has some tie to Delta there.
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:00:58 PM)
Wed. we should have hard numbers
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:01:06 PM)
Yup
GG (Jan 27, 2003 11:01:19 PM)
gee, if I log off, can I come back and get the next $4500? (sorry...)
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:01:37 PM)
This is like a town meeting where everybody talks at once... hard to clarify the issues and responses
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:01:42 PM)
Since there is likely a Delta person hiding here
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:01:47 PM)
why not just fix things
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:01:48 PM)
Good...
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:01:49 PM)
GG, it is Canadian dollars. :)
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:01:51 PM)
and save us the trouble
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:07 PM)
You know they will
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:16 PM)
quote it in HK$ then, make folks feel REAL good
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:27 PM)
but it will be too late for those of us who left to come back and earn PM or GM
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:32 PM)
They have to do something, like with the standby fees. Will it be enough, I wonder?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:32 PM)
maybe that was the idea
BWIPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:33 PM)
hey all, sorry to have joined late - what was resolved re: Elite advertising and how may I contribute?
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:43 PM)
Yeah... it's a cause now, not a personal thing
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:49 PM)
We are going with a TV ad
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:53 PM)
3 weeks
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:02:59 PM)
midday
GG (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:03 PM)
??? 8>
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:04 PM)
BWI, we are still deciding on what media to use
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:04 PM)
... just kidding
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:06 PM)
tv ad?????
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:14 PM)
joke
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:16 PM)
It was a joke
obscure2k (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:16 PM)
Note: Elder, Hannity, Rush, all have websites. Clearly, they all travel up-front.
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:30 PM)
That's true, Obscure2k...
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:33 PM)
we can use talk radio as well
BWIPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:34 PM)
well, i happen to work at a major cable broadcasting station and have 14 minutes of on-air time weekly
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:38 PM)
no reason not to
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:49 PM)
Well that's a start!
BWIPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:52 PM)
just kidding, EyeFlyDoc :)
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:56 PM)
ha!
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:03:59 PM)
got me!
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:04:25 PM)
it makes sense for those who are so inclined to do what they can to publicize this
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:04:27 PM)
We need to emphasize, as USA Today did, that Delta isn't cutting like all the other airlines are. It's going way beyond.
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:04:28 PM)
and probably pay for it, or their media do, so they don't like us upgrading riffraff; or they brag on flying coach, like cheapskate Howard
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:04:50 PM)
Bruce, we have to say it is the worse plan out there
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:02 PM)
bruce, did you read what USA wrote last week
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:04 PM)
It helps that we're telling the truth!
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:04 PM)
I think that the message is that they have alienated us enough to cost them their business
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:10 PM)
that's the key
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:14 PM)
Last week? No.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:17 PM)
that the company will die if they don't wake up
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:24 PM)
Business Week, letter to the editor
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:31 PM)
if we make it about FFer perks it won't be enough
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:47 PM)
Good suggestion RSSRSVP
lofly (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:49 PM)
a # of stories related to te problems of the airline industry
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:05:52 PM)
Did anyone get a call from USA Today?
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:06 PM)
No, still waiting
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:06 PM)
Not I.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:09 PM)
me too
obscure2k (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:12 PM)
My big suggestion tonight was involving ourselves in TalkRadio. Thanks, Rssrsvp for starting this discussion. Have to feed a couple of people, so, will say goodnight. Well-done, Rssrsvp.
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:24 PM)
I got an email twice now in the last 2 weeks from Ron Leiber at WSJ. I was out of the country though.
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:28 PM)
Bye, o2k
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:40 PM)
that's interesting
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:56 PM)
JT, what does Leiber write about?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:06:59 PM)
Will he be covering this?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:07:25 PM)
I think he's travel
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:07:28 PM)
I don't know. I think it is similiar to what Jane Costello does, but his articles mostly appear in the print version.
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:07:33 PM)
perfect person
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:07:49 PM)
Mostly journalists are looking for human interest quotes to liven up their "facts"; maybe we should work on some party line slogans anybody could give out?
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:07:54 PM)
my guess is that the media is interested
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:02 PM)
I agree completely.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:06 PM)
but waiting for something to happen
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:09 PM)
yes
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:16 PM)
Like a billboard
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:19 PM)
a passenger uprising would work
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:23 PM)
or a billboard
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:31 PM)
by the way
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:37 PM)
It's so small, but could make a big impact news wise.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:41 PM)
DL is spinning it to their own employees
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:42 PM)
They need to see that it's not just a few travel nerds, though. We need bigger numbers.
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:45 PM)
employees being laid off because of poor decisions on VA. Ave.
LexPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:50 PM)
"Delta used to be my airline of choice; now it's my airline of avoidance"
bareflanks (Jan 27, 2003 11:08:54 PM)
uprising wont work...a billboard will
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:05 PM)
my CRC person told me that we're getting what we finally deserve
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:05 PM)
But I don't think we're a bunch of small travel nerds.
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:10 PM)
Employees aren't buying the spin. I've spoken with quite a few.
BWIPassenger (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:10 PM)
those who spoke earlier about the absence of mobile billboards in ATL were on-point. still very rare and an attention getter..
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:13 PM)
billboard is an uprising
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:15 PM)
Okay.. maybe you are Bruce. :)
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:20 PM)
it was odd
Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:21 PM)
SlideMiles,the benefits don't stick.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:23 PM)
she wasn't nastly
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:33 PM)

hey Lauri!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:46 PM)
the new program is appropriate
FLYMSY (Jan 27, 2003 11:09:51 PM)
Another late joiner. Was involved in a situation when I was Pres & COB of a national photographers trade association. Had a problem with largest American producer of photographic products. We wound up having them come hat in hand looking to resolve the situation. We started out by publicizing it in our member publication and sent out press releases. The story was picked up by trade publications, NPR, WSJ, etc. Sorry for what seems like a long post and I'm really trying to make it short. 8^)
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:10:10 PM)
it was saliet
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:10:13 PM)
and pertinent too!
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:10:15 PM)
That's the right approach!!!
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:10:19 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:10:25 PM)
absolutely

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:10:54 PM)

Rssrsvp (Jan 27, 2003 11:11:02 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:11:09 PM)
good question
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:11:16 PM)
Big bucks, I think.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:11:19 PM)
but not sure that it would be visible enough
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:11:24 PM)
to attract media

Suggested copy for billboard or radio ad, "From the passengers of Delta Airlines, restore the Skymiles program and keep your Medallion Members as customers."
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:11:42 PM)
me too
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:11:53 PM)
A Billboard would be MUCH cheaper than an ad on Yahoo and would get us noticed easiler.
jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:11:59 PM)
easier.
bareflanks (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:02 PM)
I like Rssrvp suggestion
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:06 PM)

Great!
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:19 PM)
I think the best way to handle the copy is to post on FT
kazman (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:22 PM)
Sorry - just got in - so missed most - Has anyone sent a letter to the stock analysts that cover aviation discussing the potential of declining revenue due to defections ????
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:23 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:30 PM)

jeffreyt (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:36 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:37 PM)
kax
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:12:45 PM)
kaz, that was my first thought
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:13:01 PM)
I even wrote a sample letter to post on FT
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:13:12 PM)
but decided that it was a bit too extreme
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:13:27 PM)
We could post negative Delta news on financial chat boards. Suggest massive defections. We have to really believe it, however, or it's manipulation.
kazman (Jan 27, 2003 11:13:30 PM)
I have noticed that the comment cards ar e"missing" in the CRC lately !
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:13:34 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:14:48 PM)
any news from USA Today?
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:14:51 PM)
The REAL purpose has to be generating press coverage that embarrasses Delta and forces them to reconsider.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:14:57 PM)
agreed
RVBOOS (Jan 27, 2003 11:14:58 PM)
the article was in USA Today

My new deal - call DL to task on everything - and report all failures re:customer commitment to DOT
bdschobel (Jan 27, 2003 11:15:21 PM)
We just need to be noticed by the big-time media.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:15:28 PM)
RV were you interviewed?
RVBOOS (Jan 27, 2003 11:15:30 PM)
I give the guy the lead on the story and he never calls or interviews me
FLYMSY (Jan 27, 2003 11:15:38 PM)
I think that the billboard phrase needs to be catchy, short, sweet, & to the point. Maybe even have a url on it. Something that will make the press want ot pick it up.
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:15:38 PM)
Ah
EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:15:52 PM)

EyeFlyDoc (Jan 27, 2003 11:17:24 PM)
